All Classical 89.9 KBPS is Portland, Oregon's only all-classical radio station. Their mission is to provide classical music and fine arts information to their listeners. They believe music is the ultimate form of communication and that music goes straight to the heart, bypassing language and directly connecting human beings across cultures, even across time itself.
You will hear plenty of favorites on 89.9 KBPS and pieces you have never heard before. You’ll hear songs like “Young Frankenstein: A Transylvanian Lullaby” by John Morris, “Escales (Ports of Call)” by Jacques Ibert, “Enjoy Life, Waltz, Opus 340” by Johann Strauss Jr. and “Symphonie Fantastique, Opus 14” by Hector Berlioz. KBPS hopes to delight you with different arrangements and introduce you to new music and musicians you will come to love.
Robert McBride hosts and produces “Club Mod,” that airs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday nights. “Club Mod” explores ways composers of the past have "pushed the envelope" musically and presents works by the composers of today. John Pitman is Music Director of 89.9 and is regularly heard weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m., sharing with listeners his love of classical music. John also hosts the weekday dinner hour program, Tafelmusic and Northwest Previews, which features upcoming local performances, Thursdays at 6 p.m. Pat McElroy keeps you company on Saturday mornings, and Edmund Stone plays your favorite classical music Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Edmund also produces and hosts "The Score" every other Saturday afternoon. Ed Goldberg accompanies your Sunday mornings with soothing classical tunes.
