KDCR is Dordt college’s own radio station, bringing students, staff and the community the best in Christian programming. It is KDCR’s mission to communicate God’s unfolding creation as they try to equip and encourage their listeners to live in accordance with the Word of God.

KDCR is not a typical college radio station. With 100,000 watts, KDCR broadcasts as far as 80 to 90 miles beyond the boundaries of the Dordt College campus. In addition to this wid-reaching over the air broadcast, you can enjoy KDCR via streaming audio on the World Wide Web.

One of the great things about KDCR 88.5 FM is that it broadcasts 24 hours a day. It features a variety of Christian music genres from inspirational to traditional to contemporary Christian music. There are several different devotional and inspirational programs to help you get through your day and allow God’s word to shape your life.

In addition to music and inspirational programming, KDCR features sports broadcasts. These broadcasts cover the Dordt College sports team, as well as many of the local high school sporting events.

The staff at KDCR 88.5 FM are comprised primarily of Dordt College students. They work under the direction of several Dordt college staff. Jim Bolkema is the music director for KDCR. Mike Byer handles all of the sports and sports information programming duties. John Slegers is responsible for news. Cindy Nederhoff coordinates the financial support for the station. Ralph Goemaat is the broadcast engineer for the station, and Denny De Waard holds the whole thing together as the station manager.

Some of the devotional programming on KDCR 88.5 FM includes Words of Hope Devotional, Today Devotional and Lighten up. News programs include SRN News as well as Farm News. Health topics are covered on Health Matters. Christian financial advice is available via My Money Life. Scripture is broadcast on the Listen To the Bible program. The Home Improvement Minute offers advice on how to fix up your home. During the school year, you can even tune in to KDCR 88.5 FM to hear the Dordt College lunch menu.
