Hopalong Cassidy

The Appearance of Hopalong Cassidy:
IN the early 50s, Hopalong Cassidy’s radio show was avidly followed by a hige number of listeners as he went around from episode to episode doing his good deeds. Hopalong Cassidy, as he was portrayed on the screen was white haired and clad strikingly when he worn black. He was well spoken and reserved, and he possessed a really fine sense of what fair play was all about. Hopalong Cassidy was frequently called upon to handle dishonest characters that were truly taking advantage of very honest citizens. Hopalong Cassidy who was also referred to as “Hoppy” normally traveled through the west with two individual companions - one companion that was trouble prone and young that possessed a weakness for damsels that were in distress and the other being outspoken and comically awkward.

The Characters of Hopalong Cassidy:
Rand Brooks, Russell Hayden or James Ellison played the juvenile lead. Originally, Gabby Hayes played Windy Halliday which was Hopalong Cassidy’s grizzled sidekick. At the time that Hayes decided to leave the series because of a dispute dealing with her salary with Harry Sherman who was the producer, he decided that he would be replaced by Britt wood that was a comedian and would play Speedy McGinnis.

Out of all the sidekicks, Clyde was the most durable and it remained with the series until it came to and end. The films that included Hopalong Cassidy weren’t filmed by the movie studios but they were filmed by independent producers that in turn released the films through the studios. However, most of the films were being distributed by Paramount Pictures in order to have returns that were highly favorable, and they were also noted for their excellent photography outdoors and the fast action.

However, Harry Sherman was very anxious to create movies that were ambitious so he made the attempt to cancel the series of Hopalong Cassidy, but because of the popular demand of Hopalong Cassidy, Sherman was forced right back into production, but this time it was strictly for a united artist release.

Hopalong Cassidy Over The Years:
Over the years, Hopalong Cassidy has been a major hit and till this very day, he is still among the most well known people within the entire world. When Hopalong Cassidy was in his prime, there wasn’t anyone or anything that could stop him from being a success.
