The Al Franken Show

It all began as "The O'Franken Factor" and was being broadcasted and recorded on the twenty eighth floor of the very historic Foshay Tower, which was located in the downtown area of Minneapolis. Before this time, the show was based in N.Y.C.

Al Franken is a satirist and comedian, especially known for the earlier role he played as a performer and a writer on Saturday Night Live and for his books. When he made an appearance on Saturday Night Live, he normally teamed up with his fellow performer/writer Tom Davis who is a comedian.

The History of the Al Franken Show:
From the time of the show’s inception which took place during March, 2004 up until October, 2005 this show was co-hosted by Katherine Lanpher who was an experienced journalist. However, Katherine decided to leave the show so that she could write “Leap Days” which was a memoir that was based on the experiences she had when moving to N.Y.C. Katherine later decided that she wasn’t going to rejoin the cast of the show because she didn’t want to relocate again at the time that Al relocated to Minnesota.

During November, Al made the announcement that he wasn’t going to be seeking out a replacement for Katherine. At the time that the show had begun, Al had signed a contract for one year. The Sundance Channel broadcasted a televised version of the one hour show during the weekdays.

The very first episode was aired during November of 2004. After this, the Sundance Channel was able to convince Al to sign a new contract and they aired a second season of his show. In November 2007, “The Quake” which was an affiliate of Air America located in San Francisco made the statement that Al would be leaving Air America and this was corroborated by Whatamockery.com by an audio clip that was posted there. Even though Al was still currently on the air at that time, KQKE started airing another program in the place of his show known as the Thom Hartmann Program.
