80s Pop

The evidence that mutual benefits among the music and film industries were able to afford each other were very evident during this decade by the songs that were on the movie soundtracks which became chart toppers, such as Rocky III’s “Eye of the Tiger”, Flashdance’s “  Flashdance….What a Feeling” and “Footloose”.

The influences pop had on return were known to have a much greater impact during this decade than they did every before. The hits that were on the charts in the United States that came from the United Kingdom are, “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” and “Down Under” as well as “Careless Whisper”, “Faith”, and “Need You Tonight”.

During this decade, the rock genre was able to deliver a really good number of pop hits, with bands that were otherwise protective of their native roots delving into commercialism briefly, such songs are “Every Breath You Take”, “Centerfold” and “”I Love Rock and Roll”.

All of the producers that wanted to multiply their markets tried to bring both of the accomplished acts together which aggregated the fans on one of those acts of the other. However the concept did work and the following combination were able to become hits, “Say Say Say”, “Endless Love”, “Ebony and Ivory” as well as “On My Own”.

The Originality of Eighties Pop Music:
During this decade, pop music came of age in which it crowned its very own popular music King and Queen who was Madonna and Michael Jackson. These are rock artists that left behind their histories along with styles and totally wholeheartedly devoted themselves to or began their whole careers in the rock genre of music. Some of the primary examples are “Papa Don’t Preach”, “Billie Jean”, and “I Feel for You and Like a Virgin”.

The influence of African American began to reach whole new heights with certain songs like, “My Prerogative”, “I Feel for You”, “Miss You So Much” and “Shake You Down”. In this decade, there was also a new kind of release that debuted during this decade known as the charity record which was aimed at raising funds for a certain cause that was held dear by the performers or performer. The very first charity record came in ’84 in the British Isles, entitled “Do They Know It’s Christmas” which was followed in ’95 by “That’s what Friends Are For” and “We Are the World”.

Over all, the eighties pop scene has really changed a lot from its first originality to this day and age. During this day and age, eighties pop is combined with several different genres into order to create several subgenres of pop music. Taking a look back at eighties pop music will give you some insight of the changes.
