Some notable examples of the 70’s hits are “I Can’t Hear You No More” by Helen Reddy, the ’77 release of “Got to Give It Up” by Marvin Gaye, the ’78 release of “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow, the ’78 release of “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan, the’78 release of “Miss You” by The Rolling Stones, the ’76 release of “Silly Love Songs” by Wings, the ’79 release of “Goodnight Tonight” by Wings.
Donna Summer and Barbara Streisand duet entitled “No More Tears”,“I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss, “Last Train to London” and “ Shine a Little Love” by Electric Light Orchestra were also among the best hits of the seventies. Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall”, “Rock with you”, and “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” were also hits during the seventies. Disco Hits the Airwaves: In the mid seventies, disco hit the airwaves by the Disco Television Show Step-by-Step by Marty Angelo, Disco 77/Disco Magic by Steve Marcus, Soap Factory by Eddie Rivera and Dance Fever by Merv Griffin. Dance Fever was hosted by a man by the name of Deney Terrio which has been credited with teaching the actor John Travolta to dance for the upcoming role that he had in Saturday Night Fever which was a hit movie. The disco style created several parodies, most notably Dancing Fool and Disco Duck. At the time, Rick Dees who was a radio DJ in Memphis which is located in Tennessee recorded the song Disco Duck as a popular parody. On his Sheik Yerbouti album, Frank Zappa in Dancing Fool famously parodied the disco dancer’s lifestyles. Chart-Topping Songs: The ’74 release of “Rock The Boat” by Hues Corporation was a number one hit as well as a million dollar seller, not to mention it was one of the very first disco songs that were able to be ranked at number one. Some of the other songs that were able to top the charts were The Blackbyrds “Walking in Rhythm”, George McCrae’s “Rock Your Baby”, and Barry White’s “Love Theme” during the seventies. Then Gloria Gaynor released the very first disco mix vinyl album and included a “Never Can Say Goodbye” by The Jackson 5’s remake as well as two different songs, “Reach Out” and “Honey Bee”.
