Rave The Music Obviously, the music had to match. So it was loud and uninhibited too. This was the UK in the 50s and 60s and even today, rave music is used to refer to dance music that had repetitive beats. The parties usually have the best of DJs and very often feature live musicians as well. Rave music can borrow from various genres. There are some ravers that are selective in-between music genres, which reflect little, if any interest in one particular area while receiving great satisfaction within another. The house music genre has roots within disco and funk while the trance music genre has roots in symphonic music and new age music. Most of the DJs will mix the genres, leave the electronic music entirely or remix the sounds that already exist.
Rave Music Bands: The early nineties efforts put forth by Acen, Nebula 2, Altern-8, Utah Saints, The Prodigy, and The Shamen were all considered quintessential forms of rave music and were all being played at large at the all night raves like Raindance, Fantazia and Universe as well as many others like Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Brainstorm Crew, Acen and The Prodigy.
By the early part of this century, the term “rave music” was more generically used to define any one of several different styles that could have been played during a rave party. In this particular sense, the rave music genre is associated more with an event instead of a certain genre. During a rave, there can be several different areas or arenas which play several different types of rave music. The very large raves which are referred to as massives can include ten or even more separate arenas, each will have their very own style of music, ranging from a hi-energy trance and techno to ambient and chillout being played in the chill rooms. |
