Melodic Black Metal

Reputably, melodic black metal music draws its roots from melodic death metal and black metal. Sometimes, melodic black metal is confused with doom metal, gothic metal, as well as symphonic metal because of the similarities in the different styles which is known to result in the same classification of erroneous genre and overlapping for several albums and bands.

What Songs Consist Of:
Typically a song consists of different harmonic minor scales, which often modulate violently between the minor chords right by the thirds. There are many of the songs that are know to incorporate heavy power of the guitar chords, however unlike the traditional black metal, the songs are known to have at least a little control over the actual volume, which allows the music to blend instead of just sounding too noisy. Usually, the songs will start with some form of melodic introduction, whether it is clean keyboards or guitars and normally move onwards to a sound that is distorted and more aggressive as the piece of music advances.

Unlike the typical songs of black metal, the compositions of melodic black metal have bridges that are clearly defined. Generally, the songs go right from the introduction to a verse on to a prechorus and chorus and then from a verse to a prechorus and then on to a bridge. Unlike black metal, within a bridge the music can be quite mellow. However, the bridge turns right back into the verse or either into the sound of black metal which consists of an unexpected turn which is very swift.

Melodic black metal has cultural origins within Norway during the early nineties. The typical instruments that are included in melodic black metal are the drums, bass, guitar, and keyboard. This genre of music experienced its mainstream popularity underground during the early to mid nineties, which has slightly increased over the past couple of years.
