Goregrind Music

Among the main features that are able to musically distinguish this gotrgrind music from grindcore can be based upon two main aspects: first, the actual use of an octave shifter on all of the vocals, which creates a very unique and low pitch texture gurgle which is a lot similar to the effects that are being used within the horror movies for a demonic, possessed or undead character. Generally, this renders all of the lyrics as being incomprehensible however; they are frequently still included within the printout.

Secondly, there is more of a reliance placed on the influence of metal or even more specifically, in the latter years on the primitively constructed aspect in which the downtuned textures are frequently being used in death metal which in many cases had taken the actual place of the crust influence on its very own grindcore brethren.

Goregrind in the Beginning:
Goregrind, in the beginning, can be placed along side of Carcass which is a British band, and to a much lesser extent, American Impetigo which began their career during the latter part of the eighties. Carcass, the British band used pitch shifters along with medical imagery as well as a host of several other visceral association when they had originally conceived the band, which was a deviation from the lyrics that were frequently left wing or political which are commonly used in the grindcore and hardcore scenes.

Other lyrics of the band were similarly awash with some rather complicated terms and with bodily functions that are stomach churning. However, this particular genre has really changed from the original archetype that was offered by the band Carcass, which was influenced by the thrash metal and hardcore punk that was popular during the eighties in the underground scene.

Goregrind as a genre, found favor among the British, some American and Swedish bands and it was found to be part of the eighties music scene. However, since it was never too much a part of the mainstream, this rock genre was only popular with a small, very loyal listening group. This really made it more of an underground music genre than the regular accepted ones.
