Eurodance Music

Today, Eurodance is music that you will find being produced all over the world. However, it owes its existence to the European synthesizer. All said and done, it is music that makes you move and gets you on the dance floor. This genre of music is influenced heavily by rich raps and vocals utilized and combined with strong bass rhythm, creative synth, and catchy melodies.

EuroDance Music:
Eurodance as a term has gradually became associated with a certain style of European forms of dance music over a period of time. In the nineties, during its ascendant years, it was commonly referred to as Euro-NRG or Euro House, whereas in Europe, it was often referred to as Dance or Dancefloor.

While there are some that use a definition of what is considered to be Eurodance that is much broader, after some time has passed, the term especially came to be referred to as a genre that was NRG based from the nineties, which consisted of a vocalist/rapper duet or a solo vocalist and it is described the latter acts of European dance like Cascada.

Overall, the Eurodance music genre is music that is nightclub oriented which is normally produced somewhere within Europe and it sounds commercial enough that it could be played by music television and radio stations. There are some of the Eurodance songs that are more prominent and go internationally, particularly if the act is able to manage to score more than just a single hit.

Characteristics of Eurodance:
Most of the Eurodance music genre is characterized by female vocals that have a simple chorus, synthesizer riffs, sampling, male rap parts as well as a strong beat.

Eurodance Vocals:
Often Eurodance is upbeat and very positive, there are often time that the lyrics involve peace and love issues, partying and dancing, or overcoming and expressing some rather difficult emotions. The early nineties vocals of the Eurodance music genre were frequently done by either a mixed duet of vocalist-rapper or solo vocalist.

There were many projects that would utilize variations of the theme of vocalist-rapper, like a German rapper with some American singers like Real McCoy, or the actual use of the reggae rap music genre as in Fun Factory and Ice MC, or either scat singing like Scatman John or the solo singing artists like Tess, Alexia, Double You, and Blumchen.

Eurodance Percussion:
Just about all of the music emphasizes on rhythm and percussion in Eurodance. Generally, eurodance percussion is considered a kick bassdrum with different variations on a four by four time signature. The percussion is always going to be done by synthesizers, it has a sound that is more typical of the dance music genre and not all of those beat box sounds that were typical with rap music.
