Disco House
|
The Beginnings:
It began thanks to people such as Dave Lee along side of his friend and colleague Andrew Doc Livingstone Dimitri who was from Paris. What these artists did was make house music but with a touch of disco. The songs during this time sound like a typical classic disco tune – you find them using all of the latest machines and equipment which include samplers. The main idea behind this particular music genre is that all of the songs should breathe and sound disco. How the Name came about: Dave was among the very first producers to take a sample from the disco music genre and it has been said that the term entitled “disco house” was first invested by the actual music press in order to describe Dave’s own output under his alias Joey Negro. Even though disco house wasn’t officially given the name until the middle of the nineties, the music and idea was still the same all of the time and disco house is actually the closest that you are going to get to the classic disco that is real. It’s not very clear whether or not the scene of disco house came out of all of the new classic disco track remixes which were popular in the United States during the eighties or if it came from sampling all of the disco tunes in order to go with the new House tunes. Maybe, there was a combination of the two. The ’89 hit worldwide was “Ride on Time” by Black Box and it was the very first big hit that used sampling. This song was sampling Loleatta Holloway’s “Love Sensation” which was a magnificent song. Loleatta was a diva of SalSoul Records. This exact same song was sampled in ’91 by Marky Mark with his song “Good Vibrations”. However, the track by Black Box was considered to be more of a house song rather than a tune of disco house. So sampling has opened up everyone’s eyes for this brand new way of recycling music. Today, most of the entire music dance tunes use samples. Just about all of the disco-house tunes use samples, whether they are vocals, hooks, or instrumental parts from the classics and the disco tracks which are very often hard to find as obscure. Some of the other tracks of disco house include all of the brand new tracks which were inspired and created in order to sound just like a disco classic. A prime example would be “New York City Boy” by the Pet Shop Boys which was influenced by the Village People. Related Articles:Articles by this Author: |
