Country Music Awards

The very first country music awards function was held in Nashville, you couldn’t find a more appropriate place to let good things in music begin. The show was not televised.

The next year, the second set of CMAs was presented. The presentation was broadcasted by NBC a couple of weeks later. Starting in ’69, the awards ceremonies were televised live, and took place normally during the month of October or either November of each year. Once it went the TV route, there was no stopping the excitement that surrounded these awards. The Country Music Awards continued being broadcasted on the NBC Network until they switched to CBS during ’72, where they remained being aired until 2005. Beginning during the month of November in 2006, the yearly country music awards were being televised on the ABC Network.

The CMA Awards are normally always taking place at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. The annual awards can be broken down into twelve different categories including: Music Video, Music Event, Musician, Song, Single, Vocal Duo, Album, Entertainer, Female Vocalist, Male Vocalist, Vocal Group and Horizon Award.

CMAs in 2007:
This year, Kenny Chesney received the entertainer of the year award, Brad Paisley won the Male Vocalist of the Year, Carrie Underwood received female vocalist of the year and Jamey Johnson, and Bill Anderson won the song of the year for “Give It Away”.

CMAs in 2006:
Kenny Chesney received the entertainer of the year award, Keith Urban received the male vocalist of the year award, Carrie Underwood won the female vocalist of the year award and Ronnie Dunn, and Craig Wiseman won the song of the year for “Believe”.

CMAs in 2005:
Keith Urban won the entertainer of the year award and the male vocalist of the year award, Gretchen Wilson won the female vocalist of the year and Jon Randall, Bill Anderson won the song of the year for “Whiskey Lullaby”.
