The Musicians:
An Irish group, the Horslips, is attributed to being the first to bring on this genre. Today, there are a whole lot of bands and musicians who are carrying the torch, setting the world aflame with this music. You have Mother Grove who likes to classify their music as kilt rock where the bagpipes are used amazingly well with the rock structure. Then you have Enter the Haggis with their wailing fiddles and high energy music. Great big Sea is also hard hitting with a Celtic flavor. If it’s more the ballads you like, you’ll find it in Oysterband, with a touch of the loud interspersing the weepy. Then of course, you have Jiggernaut which really has moved ahead through the years evolving into a band that is all set to bring new worshippers at its altar with its vocals that are fiery and music that is such a perfect amalgam of the traditional and the modern. Many of the bands who are of this genre tend to have songs with Celtic themes which could just hark back to a Druidian theme or they could be drinking songs which are very enjoyable. A Fusion: The Celtic rock music genre is a Celtic fusion subgenre, a basic umbrella term that is used to describe any form of modern music that incorporates influences from traditional Celtic music. During the nineteen eighties wake from punk music, The Pogues which were London based, generated the Celtic punk music genre. The style behind The Pogues’ unique style of Irish music that has been punked up influenced and spawned several of the Celtic punk bands, especially within America. Before this band came along, there were several other bands that were involved in the nineteen seventies punk music movement. Related Articles:Articles by this Author: |
