Celtic Music

Celtic Music is the music of the Celts and this could span Ireland, Scotland and Wales among other places. In Ireland, Celtic music has been taken down different roads with the combining of the music with rock, punk and metal. Whatever the new genre, what seems to be very much a part of Celtic music is the use of traditional instruments like the bagpipes and the fiddle.

The Celtic Music
The term "Celtic music" is often applied to the actual music of Scotland and Ireland, because both of these places have produced some popular, distinctive and well-known music which have actually some genuine clear mutual influences and commonality. However, it is also notable that Scottish and Irish traditional musicians, by themselves try to avoid the "Celtic music" term, except for when they are forced by the market's necessities. They are also known to be famous because of the Scottish and Irish people's importance within the speaking English world. The music within Cornwall, Wales, Isle of Man, Northumbria, Brittany, Cantabria, Galicia, and Asturias as well as Northern Portugal is also considered to be a part of the Celtic music scene. In Brittany, the Celtic tradition is particularly strong which is where the Celtic festivals, small and large take place throughout the entire year. Additionally, ethnic Celtic people's music abroad is vibrant, specifically within the United States and in Canada.

The Celtic Bands:
The bands are spread all over the world - the bands that have made Celtic music popular that is. So you will find the Pogues in London and the Tossers in Chicago and the Flogging Molly's and the Dropkick's in Boston. What it has done for Celtic music is to take it beyond the shores of Ireland and Scotland and give it a world flavor and a world appeal. It has also awakened a lot of young listeners who have heard and liked the sound. It has also found favor with people who are interested in tracing their Irish or Scottish roots. If you look at the popular Celtic music musicians today, you will find that there is a whole young lot who can't get enough of this new genre of music that so well combines the old with the new.
