12 Stones:
12 Stones is an alternative band that was formed with Mandeville, LA which is a relatively small suburb of New Orleans. Mostly, the group was still in their teens when they first formed the band line up of Paul McCoy vocalist, Kevin Dorr bassist, Eric Weaver guitarist, and Aaron Gainer drummer. After they had performed no more than twelve live performances, they were able to take their demo to N.Y.C and performed it as an industry showcase. In order to record their debut album, the band ended up signing with Wind Up Records with Jay Baumgardner as their producer. The album was released in ’02, which was less than two years after the actual formation of the group. 13th Floor Elevators: Featuring the yelping visionary and vocals, Roky Erickson’s occasionally demented lyrics, the 13th Floor Elevators were among one of the very first acid-rock bands. This band formed within Texas in the middle of the sixties and started out as a garage rock band and even scored their one and only national hit that was modestly entitled “You’re Gonna Miss Me”. Even though Erickson had a loopy persona, along with the odd jug percussion of Tommy Hall, these were the band’s most distinguishing features. There were several members of the original lineup for the group that contributed to the strong materials their albums contained. Even though these were inconsistent efforts, there were times that they wandered right off into a very cloudy haze. 2 Live Crew: There isn’t any rap group that has stirred up more controversy or provoked a more heated debate than the group 2 Live Crew. The furor that took place over the graphic sexual content that was contained within their party themes that were x-rated, especially their ’89 album that was entitled "As Nasty as They Wanna be". |
