Originating within the early eighties, speed metal was a heavy metal music sub-genre that was known as the direct musical progenitor of the thrash metal genre. At the time that speed metal music first emerged as a music genre, it raised the tempos which had been used by several early bands that performed heavy metal, like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, while they retained their melodic approaches. Speed metal has several elements that are rooted within the United Kingdom’s music bands NWOBHM while fusing the punk rock music of the seventies with their stylistic approach.
