As a term “Honky Tonk” has been attached to a wide variety of styles concerning twentieth century music in America. Honky tonk is recognized the most as a country music subgenre. All of these genres are the name honky tonk in reference to a honky tonk which is a bar that has musical entertainment that is very common in the southern and southwestern portions of the United States.

Dark Ambient
It’s ambient music and yet, dark ambient music prefers to live on its fringes. This is because it basically experiments with the scary unknown beyond and this is evident in the rather eerie soundscapes that the music conjures up. The music is rather minimal, often without rhythm and could just have a lot of noise and loud effects built in. There are deep drones and dissonant notes that whip the senses up on the scale of fear. The digital reverb creates images of a land isolated and fearful. The collaboration that Robert Rich had with Lustmord upon Stalker actually epitomizes this particular subgenre. The styles that are created include isolationist ambient and ambient industrial.

Psychedelic rock is a term that is used to describe a rock music style that attempts to replicate the experiences of different hallucinogenic drugs that are mind altering by incorporating lyrics that use really bizarre sounds which alter the vocals and instruments with electronic effects like delays, reversed sounds, phase shifting and tape-loop echoes.
